Under the patronage of the Prime Minister, Qatar to host the ICAO Facilitation Conference tomorrow.
Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the State of Qatar is hosting the ICAO Facilitation Conference from April 14 to 17 at the Sheraton Grand Doha Hotel. The global event is a key platform for discussing air transport facilitation, with participation from 190 countries, more than 120 ministers of transport and civil aviation authority heads, along with 30 media outlets, 40 exhibitors, and 11 strategic partners.
The conference will open with a speech by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Minister of Transport, followed by remarks from Mr. Mohammed bin Faleh Al Hajri, Acting President of the Civil Aviation Authority, and Mr. Salvatore Sciacchitano, President of the ICAO Council. Held under the theme “Facilitating the Future of Air Transport: Collaboration, Efficiency, and Inclusivity”, the event aims to tackle current challenges in air transport facilitation and share insights on best practices and innovations.
A key feature of the event is its ministerial segment, the first of its kind in ICAO facilitation conferences, where the Doha Declaration will be announced. This strategic document will guide international policy on air transport facilitation and enhance cooperation across the sector, contributing to greater security and streamlined processes.
The conference will address critical issues such as coordination among stakeholders, travel document security, automation of cargo clearance, handling of deportees, refugees and stateless persons, support for air accident victims, and responses to global public health emergencies affecting aviation.
Qatar seeks to showcase its leadership in aviation facilitation by continuously enhancing infrastructure, adopting cutting-edge identity verification systems, aligning with global standards, and investing in workforce training. The conference reflects Qatar’s commitment to ICAO’s "No Country Left Behind" initiative and its vision for sustainable and inclusive aviation development.
This event marks a strategic milestone in aligning global efforts toward a more integrated and resilient future for the air transport industry, reinforcing Qatar’s position as a trusted global hub in civil aviation.
