Meta Unveils Major Update to Enhance Meta AI Capabilities

Meta has announced a major update to its Meta AI assistant, introducing a range of advanced productivity features designed to make it function more like a personal AI assistant. The update is part of the company's strategy to compete with leading AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude.

The new release enables Meta AI to access users' calendars to organize schedules, generate daily summaries, and conduct in-depth research that users can guide and modify while it is in progress, delivering a more personalized AI experience.

Powered by Meta's newly launched Muse Spark 1.1 model, the upgraded assistant goes beyond answering questions and generating content, allowing it to manage complex tasks and workflows more effectively.

New capabilities include creating daily schedule summaries, searching for second-hand furniture on Facebook Marketplace within a user's budget, recommending restaurants, and selecting suitable meeting times based on calendar availability.

The update also introduces task automation, enabling users to schedule recurring actions such as sending daily calendar summaries, creating weekly meal plans, and notifying them when tracked products become available. In addition, users can now modify prompts while Meta AI is generating a response without restarting the conversation.

Meta confirmed that the update is rolling out gradually across selected markets through the Meta AI app and web platform, with expansion to additional countries and platforms, including WhatsApp, planned in the coming weeks.
