Ashghal completes the first phase of Doha Corniche development
Ashghal revamps Doha Corniche to its best form.

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the completion of the first phase of the Corniche Street upgrade project, covering the stretch from the East Intersection to the Old Port Intersection. This milestone comes as part of Ashghal’s ongoing efforts to enhance driving experience, improve traffic flow, and boost the efficiency of Qatar’s infrastructure for the benefit of all road users.

To complete the remaining works, Ashghal will implement a series of temporary traffic closures along parts of the Corniche during weekends in the coming weeks. These closures are necessary to allow crews to resurface the entire roadway as part of the overall improvement plan.

The plan includes partial nighttime closures to remove the old asphalt layer, followed by full weekend closures to lay the new surface and renew road markings. The project will be executed in five consecutive phases, starting from the East Intersection and extending to the Sheraton Intersection, with each phase covering a specific section of the road per week.

In coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, Ashghal has arranged alternative routes and installed clear directional and dynamic signage to ensure smooth traffic movement and safety. The authority is also sharing continuous updates through its social media channels, including maps and explanatory videos.

Ashghal urged motorists to follow the posted signs, adhere to the announced diversions, and plan their trips in advance to avoid temporary congestion. Road users can also stay informed by following Ashghal’s official WhatsApp channel and social media accounts for real-time updates and information.
