QatarEnergy Signs Agreement with Samsung C&T to Build Major Solar Power Plant in Dukhan
"The Dukhan Solar Power Plant will double Qatar’s clean energy generation capacity by 2029."

QatarEnergy has signed an agreement with the engineering and construction division of Samsung C&T to develop a large-scale solar power plant in Dukhan, west of Doha.

The project will be implemented in two phases, reaching a total capacity of 2,000 MW by mid-2029. Once completed, the plant will double Qatar’s solar power generation capacity and significantly contribute to the country’s renewable energy goals.

Eng. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs, President and CEO of QatarEnergy, described the agreement as a key milestone in balancing economic growth with environmental protection, noting that it supports QatarEnergy’s sustainability strategy to generate over 4,000 MW of renewable energy by 2030.
