First Qatar Real Estate Forum to begin on June 4

Doha, Qatar: With 1,500 participants, the first Qatar Real Estate Forum (2023) will begin in Doha on June 4 to discuss the issues like promising investment opportunities and legislation for the sustainable real estate sector among many others.

Under the patronage of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the two-day event will be organised by the Ministry of Municipality in the Sheraton Hotel.

With 35 speakers in 11 sessions and workshops, the forum will be held in its first edition, under the slogan “Regulations and legislation for an optimal quality of life and a sustainable real estate industry”.

The forum hosts their Excellencies the Ministers, senior officials of participating State Ministries and authorities, and representatives of local and regional companies in the real estate sector, as well as business actors and influential figures in the real estate industry from inside and outside Qatar.

The Forum comes in conjunction with the issuance of Amiri Decision No. 28 of 2023 establishing the public authority for regulating the real estate sector.

Details about the forum were given during a press conference held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Municipality. Addressing the press conference Ahmed Al Emadi, Vice Chairman of the organising committee, said that the real estate sector leads more than 160 industries and professions, and contributes to enhancing the national output being one of the active and effective sectors in the march of the economy.

He said that the forum seeks to create a privileged climate for real estate investment, formulate a methodology for developing the sector and establish relevant management mechanisms.

“The forum will highlight promising investment opportunities to make them accessible to local and foreign investors and address the legislation regulating the real estate sector in Qatar,” said Al Emadi.

He said that Qatar witnesses a comprehensive renaissance in various sectors, where the real estate sector is one of the fastest-growing sectors, second after the oil and gas sector.

According to the foreign direct investment report, issued by FDI Intelligence, he said, Qatar ranked first among the world’s top 50 FDI destinations, expected to carry the strongest investment momentum into 2023.

Al Emadi said that Qatar achieved a 70% annual growth in FDI projects between 2019 and 2022, and its economy is expected to grow by 2.4% in 2023, making Qatar safer and more attractive for local and foreign investment.

Mana Al Mana, a member of the organizing committee and representative of the private sector at the forum, said that the forum includes 7 sessions and 3 workshops including as session on the future directions of the real estate sector.

He said that it will review the efforts exerted by various ministries and parties in the state to lead and develop the real estate sector to contribute to achieving comprehensive development.

The second session will address exploring the future of the real estate sector and the most important initiatives, in light of the global digital transformation.

The third session will address the real estate sector governance, and introduce the importance of relevant regulations and legislations and their impact on the real estate sector through reviewing some regional models as well as focusing on the legal and regulatory frameworks for the real estate sector in the state of Qatar, the latest of which, of course, the establishment of the public authority for regulating the real estate sector, noting that the investor’s journey between reality and hope shall be covered in a separate session, addressing the most important obstacles faced by major investors in the real estate industry as live models and how they were able to overcome.

Dr. Fayeqa Abdullah Ashkanani, Director of Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Municipality and member of the organizing committee, said: “We focused in our media plan on giving way to all digital platforms within Qatar in addition to various local media outlets.”
