The GCC Interconnection Authority announced that Qatar will assume the chairmanship of its Board of Directors for the upcoming three-year term.
The board will be chaired by Abdullah bin Ali Al-Theyab, President of Kahramaa, following the Ordinary General Assembly meeting held in Doha.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the agenda and discussed regional developments, as well as the authority’s strategic plans in light of current regional challenges.
The discussions also covered upcoming projects to expand the GCC power interconnection network, aiming to enhance supply reliability during outages and increase opportunities for electricity exchange and trade among member states.
Additionally, the meeting explored the possibility of expanding interconnection beyond GCC countries by linking with neighboring power grids, further strengthening regional integration in the electricity sector.
