Chinese Company Secures $4 Billion Contract for North Field Development Project
The five-year project includes the construction of two compression platforms in the world’s largest non-associated gas field.

China Offshore Oil Engineering Company announced yesterday that it had won a tender issued by QatarEnergy for a project valued at approximately $4 billion, to be executed in partnership with Italy’s Saipem, according to Reuters.

The five-year project includes the construction of two compression platforms and related facilities at the North Field, the world’s largest non-associated gas field.

In a filing to the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the Chinese company stated that its share of the contract exceeds $800 million. It will be responsible for constructing the main facilities and carrying out part of the engineering and procurement works, noting that it is awaiting the signing of the final contract.
