QatarEnergy has signed a 20-year long-term Sales and Purchase Agreement with Malaysia’s PETRONAS to supply two million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar, with deliveries set to commence in 2028.
The agreement was signed by H.E. Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs, President and CEO of QatarEnergy, and Tengku Muhammad Taufik, President and Group CEO of PETRONAS, during a special ceremony held on the sidelines of the 21st International LNG Conference LNG2026 and its accompanying exhibition, currently taking place in Doha.
This marks the first long-term LNG supply agreement between QatarEnergy and PETRONAS, reflecting the strong mutual trust between the two companies and their shared vision for a more sustainable energy future, while further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
Commenting on the agreement, H.E. Al-Kaabi stated that the partnership underscores QatarEnergy’s ongoing commitment to supporting Malaysia’s growing energy needs and meeting global customer demand, while expanding international partnerships and promoting cleaner energy solutions that contribute to economic development in key markets worldwide.
