QatarEnergy has signed a new Production Sharing Agreement for the offshore S4 block located in the shallow waters off the coast of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. The agreement was awarded as part of Guyana’s 2022 licensing round.
Under the terms of the agreement, QatarEnergy will hold a 35% participating interest, while TotalEnergies—the operator—will hold 40%, and PETRONAS will hold the remaining 25%.
His Excellency Eng. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, stated that the exploration block in Guyana supports QatarEnergy’s global strategy to expand its exploration footprint.
He added: “We extend our appreciation to the Government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and to our partners in this block for their support and collaboration. We look forward to working together to achieve our exploration objectives.”
The S4 block covers an area of 1,788 square kilometers, located approximately 50 to 100 kilometers offshore Guyana, in water depths ranging between 30 and 100 meters.
