QatarEnergy Set to Build One of the World’s Largest Solar Power Plants in Dukhan

QatarEnergy plans to launch a major solar power project in the Dukhan area, with a production capacity of 2,000 megawatts, before the end of 2025.

According to a report by Qatar TV, the new plant aims to double the country’s solar energy production capacity to 4,000 megawatts—representing about 30% of Qatar’s total electricity generation capacity by 2030. The facility is expected to be one of the largest solar power plants in the world.

QatarEnergy’s solar portfolio currently includes the Al Kharsaah solar power plant, which was inaugurated in 2022 with a capacity of 800 megawatts. Additionally, two large-scale solar power stations are being developed in the industrial cities of Mesaieed and Ras Laffan, with a combined investment of QAR 2.3 billion and a total capacity of 875 megawatts, scheduled for commissioning in April.
