Qatari Diar Welcomes Renowned Architect Norman Foster to Discuss Lusail’s Urban Development

H.E. Sheikh Hamad bin Talal Al Thani, CEO of Qatari Diar, welcomed internationally renowned architect Lord Norman Foster, Chairman of the Norman Foster Foundation and Executive Chairman of Foster + Partners, at the company’s headquarters.

During the meeting, Sheikh Hamad presented an overview of Qatari Diar’s projects in Qatar and abroad, highlighting the company’s efforts in developing integrated urban destinations.

The two sides also discussed the stages of urban development in Lusail City, which is home to several of Foster’s prominent architectural projects, most notably Lusail Stadium and Al Saad Plaza Towers. They highlighted the role of these developments in shaping the city’s urban landscape and architectural identity.

The meeting also highlighted the selection of Lusail City by Qatar Museums as a case study for the 2026 Master’s Programme in Sustainable Cities, offered by the Norman Foster Institute.

Students enrolled in the programme are conducting field research in the city, drawing on Qatari Diar’s practical experience in its development. The initiative connects academic research with real-world application, offering students an opportunity to explore sustainable urban planning through an established urban development project.
