“QatarEnergy expands its regional footprint with a new offshore exploration stake off the Lebanese coast.
A new trilateral agreement strengthens international cooperation to support oil and gas exploration in Lebanese waters.

QatarEnergy has signed an agreement with the Lebanese government, along with TotalEnergies and Eni, to acquire a participating interest in an offshore exploration block off the coast of Lebanon.

Under the terms of the agreement, QatarEnergy will acquire a 30% stake in offshore Block 8, while TotalEnergies, the operator, and Eni will each retain a 35% interest.

Commenting on the agreement, HE Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, said the move reflects Qatar’s continued commitment to supporting the development of Lebanon’s oil and gas exploration sector and contributing to a more promising future for the country and its people.

Al-Kaabi also expressed his appreciation to Lebanon’s Minister of Energy and Water and his team for their support, noting that QatarEnergy looks forward to working closely with its strategic partners TotalEnergies and Eni to achieve the desired outcomes.

Block 8 is located approximately 70 kilometers offshore Lebanon, in water depths ranging between 1,700 and 2,100 meters.
