Ashghal announces the completion of the first package of the Roads and Infrastructure Development Project in Al Aqdeh, Al Hidan, and Al Khor
“An integrated project that enhances quality of life and prepares 738 residential plots to welcome residents.”

The Public Works Authority “Ashghal” announced the completion of all works under the first package of the Roads and Infrastructure Development Project in Al Aqla, Al Hidan, and Al Khor areas, marking a significant step toward preparing new residential zones west of Al Bayt Stadium for occupancy.

The project aims to serve citizens’ land plots located north of Al Khor Coastal Road and Al Aqla Street, and west of Al Hidan Street, through the construction of an integrated internal road network and the provision of advanced infrastructure facilities that meet the needs of residents and support future urban expansion.

Engineer Tamader Al Maas, Project Engineer at Ashghal’s Northern Areas Section within the Roads Projects Department, stated that the project is part of the State’s comprehensive plan to upgrade road networks, enhance infrastructure services in existing areas, and prepare new land plots with essential services, enabling citizens to begin building their homes.

She explained that the project serves approximately 738 new land plots and has delivered major improvements to the area, enhancing quality of life and facilitating traffic flow. This includes the construction of a 19-kilometer road network equipped with traffic safety features, street lighting systems, road signage, and markings.

The project also involved the installation of a 24-kilometer sewage network, a 33-kilometer surface and groundwater drainage network, a 7-kilometer treated water network, and a 20-kilometer potable water network. In addition, an emergency rainwater storage basin with a capacity of 44,000 cubic meters was constructed to reduce water accumulation during the rainy season.

Ashghal noted that local content accounted for 70% of the total materials used in the project, relying on Qatari factories for the supply of lighting poles, drainage pipes, precast manholes, electrical cables, road signs, and interlock paving, in line with its support for local manufacturers and the “Tawteen” initiative launched in 2017.
