QatarEnergy has signed a long-term sales and purchase agreement with Buzwair Industrial Gases Factories for a period of up to 15 years, to supply approximately 20 million cubic feet of helium annually, produced at Qatar’s world-class Ras Laffan facilities, starting from September 2025.
In a statement, QatarEnergy noted that this agreement marks its first direct business relationship with a local Qatari industrial gas company, reflecting the growing national expertise and the strengthening role of regional suppliers in the global helium market.
Commenting on the agreement, H.E. Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs, President and CEO of QatarEnergy, welcomed the partnership, praising Buzwair Industrial Gases for its strong reputation in the helium industry and reaffirming QatarEnergy’s commitment to expanding its network of trusted and capable Qatari partners.
He added that, as one of the world’s leading suppliers of helium, QatarEnergy remains dedicated to supporting key industries that rely on reliable supplies of high-purity helium.
Helium plays a critical role in a wide range of advanced industries and essential applications, including MRI scanners, semiconductor manufacturing, fiber optics, space exploration, deep-sea diving, specialized metal welding, and other high-tech uses.
