Eng. Mohammed Al Meer: QAR 81 Billion Allocated for Infrastructure Projects in Ashghal’s New Five-Year Plan

Ashghal President Announces Comprehensive Plan to Implement 16 New Infrastructure Projects in Qatar (2024–2025)

Doha – H.E. Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmed Al Muhannadi, President of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), announced a comprehensive plan to implement 16 new infrastructure projects across Qatar during 2024 and 2025. The projects will include road development, internal infrastructure, and service facilities in various areas.

The announcement came during a press conference held by Ashghal today, where Dr. Al Muhannadi outlined the key features of the upcoming projects. He stated that 9 of the projects will commence in the third quarter of 2024, while the remaining 7 are scheduled for 2025. In addition, 22 ongoing projects are currently under implementation, with 15 expected to be completed within this year.

The plan includes the implementation of integrated networks for sewage, treated water, and telecommunications, in addition to internal roads, sidewalks, lighting, and parking spaces. Priority areas include Al Aziziyah, Al Wajba, Al Waab, and Muaither.

The Ashghal President emphasized that project prioritization is based on clear criteria, including population density, proximity to schools, mosques, vital facilities, and feedback from government entities.

As part of its commitment to support the local private sector, Dr. Al Muhannadi revealed that 8 projects are being executed in partnership with Qatari companies under the “Taheel” initiative. Since 2022, Ashghal has signed contracts worth over QAR 4.1 billion, contributing to local economic growth and enhancing the capabilities of national companies.

He also stressed that the plan aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, highlighting the authority’s focus on sustainability. This includes increasing the use of recycled materials — up to 60% in some projects — and developing sustainable infrastructure standards in coordination with relevant bodies.
