Qatar Continues Energy Projects Despite Regional Crises, with First Phase of North Field Expansion Set for Mid-2027

Energy Connects reported that Qatar’s projects related to natural gas production continue to move forward without significant disruption from the current conditions and tensions in the Middle East, highlighting Doha’s continued investment in the gas sector and its commitment to meeting established project timelines.

The report noted that the North Field Expansion project is progressing according to plan, with the first phase expected to begin operations in the first half of next year. The development is expected to further strengthen Qatar’s position in global energy markets and enhance its export capacity.

The second phase of the project is scheduled to begin operations in early 2028, according to the report, supporting Qatar’s ability to overcome the economic challenges arising from regional tensions and return to its established growth trajectory.

Energy Connects also highlighted Qatar’s management of the impact of regional tensions, supported by its experience in crisis management, alongside government efforts to maintain domestic economic stability, strengthen the contribution of non-hydrocarbon sectors and diversify national sources of income.

The report expects Qatar’s economy to gradually return to its usual growth rates from next year, as regional conditions improve and the country restores its LNG export capacity.
