Mohammed Al Maliki: Qatar’s Real Estate Sector Demonstrates Resilience Amid Regional Developments
The General Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Aqarat) has announced key highlights of the fourth edition of the Qatar Real Estate Forum 2026, held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The forum will take place from 27 to 29 October 2026 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).
Speaking at a press conference, H.E. Mohammed bin Hassan Al Maliki, Chairman of Aqarat, said the forum comes amid rapid regional and global geopolitical developments, highlighting the importance of discussing the future of the real estate sector and its ability to adapt to changing economic and investment conditions.
He noted that Qatar’s real estate market has demonstrated resilience amid regional developments, supported by an improved business environment and evolving regulations, which continue to strengthen investor confidence and market attractiveness. According to data from the Real Estate Registration Department at the Ministry of Justice, real estate transactions reached QAR 10.69 billion, equivalent to approximately USD 2.9 billion, during the first half of 2026.
Al Maliki said the fourth edition of the forum will focus on keeping pace with the sector’s transformation, strengthening cooperation among stakeholders, and exploring new investment opportunities and strategic partnerships. It will also examine global capital trends and the restructuring of investment portfolios amid rapid technological developments and the growing search for sustainable returns.
A key topic at the forum will be real estate asset tokenization as an innovative financial instrument, following the Council of Ministers’ approval of a draft law regulating real estate tokenization and the trading of real estate tokens, along with its draft executive regulations.
Strengthening Qatar’s Real Estate Position
H.E. Sheikh Hamad bin Talal Al Thani, CEO of Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company, highlighted the company’s role in developing Qatar’s real estate landscape and strengthening the country’s position as a trusted investment destination regionally and internationally.
He noted that Qatari Diar’s portfolio currently includes more than 41 investments, assets, and projects under development across several countries. The company is entering a strategic phase focused on efficiency, sustainability, and maximizing the economic value of its assets, in support of the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
He also emphasized the importance of strong public-private partnerships and a robust regulatory and institutional framework to ensure the sustainability of major real estate projects. He described the Qatar Real Estate Forum as a platform bringing together decision-makers, investors, and developers to discuss the future of the sector.
A Platform for Dialogue and Partnerships
Ahmed Mohammed Al Tayeb, CEO of Barwa Real Estate Group, expressed his expectation that the fourth edition of the forum will provide a new platform for strengthening dialogue and partnerships within the real estate sector and opening new opportunities for investment and development.
He stressed that sector development goes beyond real estate projects and also requires effective partnerships, an attractive investment environment, knowledge and experience sharing, continued innovation, and the ability to respond to market changes.
Meanwhile, Wouter Molman, Chief Commercial Officer at Informa Tharawat, said the partnership with Aqarat aims to translate regulatory reforms into tangible market opportunities by combining local regulatory expertise with the international platform and global network provided by Cityscape.
Focus on the Future of Real Estate Investment
The fourth Qatar Real Estate Forum is organized in partnership between Aqarat and Informa Tharawat. It aims to highlight the sector’s rapid transformation and its expanding role beyond traditional property development, sales, and purchases to become a key pillar of investment, wealth management, and capital markets.
Forum sessions will address financing and returns, economic diversification, and real estate asset tokenization, alongside opportunities arising from economic and technological developments and the impact of geopolitical and economic changes on real estate investment flows.
The forum will bring together government officials, developers, investors, policymakers, and senior industry leaders to discuss key challenges and opportunities, explore practical pathways for sector growth, and enhance Qatar’s ability to attract local and international investment.
The event will take place alongside Cityscape Qatar as part of a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening Qatar’s real estate investment environment, supporting governance and transparency, and attracting capital through joint events and platforms.
