The number of Building Permits and Building Completion certificates issued by the municipalities in the state reached 731 in October, a decrease of 3 percent, compared to 757 in September.

In a statement, the Planning and Statistics Authority said comparing number of permits issued in October 2020 with those issued in the previous month we noted a general decrease of 3 percent.

The decrease was noted in the most of the municipalities - Al Khor (30 percent), Umm Slal (28 percent), Al Doha (22 percent), Al Sheehaniya (20 percent), Al Shammal (13 percent).

On the other hand, there was a clear increase in the municipality of Al Daayen (15 percent) Al Wakrah (11 percent), Al Rayyan (8 percent).

In a quick review of the data on building permits issued during the month of October 2020, according to their geographical distribution, Al Rayyan Municipality comes at the top of the municipalities where the number of building permits issued were 196 permits, 27 percent of the total issued permits, while Al Daayen Municipality came in second place with 157 permits, 21 percent, followed by Al Wakrah Municipality with 138 permits,19 percent, then Doha Municipality with 132 permits, 18 percent. 

The rest of the municipalities were as follows: Umm Slal 42 permits (6 percent), Al Khor 32 permits (4 percent), Al Sheehaniya 20 permits (3 percent), and finally Al Shammal 14 permits (2 percent).

In terms of type of permits issued, data indicates that the new building permits (residential and non-residential) constitutes 47 percent (342 permits) of the total building permits issued during the month of October 2020, while the percentage of additions permits constituted 50 percent (368 permits), and finally fencing permits with 3 percent (21 permits).

By analysing new residential buildings permits data, villas’ top the list, accounting for 76 percent (187 permits) of all new residential buildings permits, followed by dwellings of housing loans permits by 14 percent (34 permits) and apartments buildings by 10 percent (24 permits).

On the other hand, commercial buildings were found to be in the forefront of non-residential buildings permits with 51 percent (49 permits), followed by governmental buildings with 22 percent (21 permits), then industrial buildings, workshops and factories with 18 percent (17 permits).

In a quick review of the data on building completion certificates issued during the month of October 2020, according to their geographical distribution, Al Rayyan Municipality comes at the top of the municipalities where the number of building completion certificates issued were 92 certificates, i.e. (26 percent) of the total issued certificates, while municipality of Al Wakrah came in second place with 79 certificates, i.e. (23 percent), followed by municipality of Al Doha with 57 certificates (16 percent) Al Da’ayen municipality with 51 certificates, i.e.(15 percent). 

The rest of the municipalities were as follows: Umm Slal 37 certificates (11 percent), Al Shammal 12 certificates (3 percent), Al Khor and Al Sheehaniya 11 certificates (3 percent) each.”

In terms of type of certificates issued, data indicates that the new building completion certificates (residential and non-residential) constitutes 70 percent (246 certificates) of the total building certificates issued during the month of October 2020, while the percentage of additions certificates constituted 30 percent (104 certificates).
