New LNG Deal Between QatarEnergy and Santos to Begin in 2026
QatarEnergy Signs Two-Year LNG Supply Agreement with Australia’s Santos

QatarEnergy has signed a new agreement with Australian oil and gas company Santos, the country’s second-largest gas producer, to import low-emission liquefied natural gas (LNG) for two years, according to Energy News.

Under the deal, Qatar will receive approximately 0.5 million tonnes of LNG annually starting from 2026. The gas will be supplied from Santos’ diverse portfolio of assets, under a Free On Board (FOB) delivery arrangement.

The agreement follows significant operational progress made by Santos in its Barossa LNG project, located off Australia’s northern coast, which is designed to supply the Darwin LNG plant. Additionally, the company’s Pikka Phase 1 project in Alaska is expected to help boost its overall production by 30% over the next 18 months compared to 2024, enhancing its ability to meet growing global demand for low-emission energy.
