Minister Al-Kaabi: Qatar’s Energy Sector Remains Committed to Strategic Nationalization Goals

His Excellency Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Managing Director, and CEO of QatarEnergy, affirmed that nationalization (Taqatir) remains a key strategic objective for Qatar’s energy sector. He praised the continued efforts of companies in fulfilling their commitments in this vital area.

This statement came during his chairing of the 25th Annual Nationalization Meeting, which was attended by senior executives and representatives from companies participating in the strategic Taqatir plan for the energy sector.

“On the 25th anniversary of our plan, I can confidently say that nationalization has gone beyond being a mere policy—it has become a transformational force that enables us to achieve greater accomplishments across all components of our sector,” said H.E. the Minister.

He emphasized the importance of enhancing strategic workforce planning and aligning nationalization efforts with each organization’s vision and institutional goals. He also reviewed a number of major strategic projects and investments being implemented across the energy sector, highlighting the need to develop qualified national cadres capable of maximizing the value of these investments.

“For this reason, nationalization is an essential part of our growth plans—it allows us to build a new generation of skilled Qatari professionals capable of leading our companies today and into the future,” he added.

Minister Al-Kaabi reaffirmed the energy sector’s unwavering commitment to providing opportunities for Qatari youth to build fulfilling careers and develop competencies in all fields.

During the meeting, His Excellency presented the annual Crystal Awards for Nationalization, which recognize outstanding companies in four categories. The winners were:

Qatalum (Qatar Aluminium) for excellence in educational outreach,

Qatar Chemical Company Ltd. (Q-Chem) for its support of nationalization,

North Oil Company for efforts in learning and development,

Kahramaa (Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation) for best progress in nationalization.

He also presented the Annual Nationalization Certificates, awarded to companies that achieved the most significant year-on-year progress in three areas:

Oryx GTL for educational outreach,

QAPCO (Qatar Petrochemical Company) for support of nationalization,

Gulf Drilling International for contributions to learning and development.
