Al Rayyan Municipality Highlights Importance of Building Regulations at "Build Your House" Exhibition
Mr. Jaber Mohammed Al-Buraidi, Head of the Technical Inspection Section at Al Rayyan Municipality, emphasized key topics discussed in a recent awareness workshop on building regulations, held as part of the sixth edition of the "Build Your House" Exhibition. The workshop aimed to raise awareness of building laws and regulations among property owners, consultants, and contractors, in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030’s sustainable development goals.
During his interview on Qatar TV, Al-Buraidi described the session as a valuable opportunity to bring together all stakeholders in the construction sector. The workshop outlined the legal and professional responsibilities of property owners, engineering consultancies, and contracting companies. It also covered relevant regulations and the legal consequences of violations, while highlighting the importance of selecting licensed consultants and qualified contractors.
Al-Buraidi also reviewed the key role of the Technical Inspection Section in ensuring the quality of modern residential construction. The section intensifies inspection campaigns at construction sites within the municipality’s jurisdiction and monitors for violations, taking appropriate legal action—efforts that help minimize infractions and enhance project safety.
In a related initiative, the Ministry of Municipality, in collaboration with West Bay International – Legal & Consulting Firm, hosted a panel discussion titled “Know Your Rights Before Building Your Property.” The session aimed to educate property owners on their legal and engineering rights, promote proper planning, and ensure safe, high-quality construction practices.
Highlights of the session were shared on the Ministry’s official social media platforms. Legal advisor Khalid Mohammed Al-Harami emphasized the importance of drafting precise contracts with contractors under legal counsel from the outset. Lawyer Ali Farhoud Al-Hajri warned of the risks of delaying legal claims, urging property owners to appoint independent consultants to protect project integrity.
Engineer Nasser Ahmed Al-Hallabi noted that smart design and hiring a reliable contractor are the keys to realizing a dream home and avoiding costly construction failures. The Ministry concluded by stressing the importance of complying with licensing requirements and building regulations to avoid violations and ensure successful project completion.
